You follow Professor Quirrell out of Gringott’s and back onto the busy streets of Diagon Ally. You feel dizzy and very disoriented, as you are led by the professor down a winding street and around several corners. Finally, he stops and looks around. Assured that you are safe and not being followed, he grabs a nearby newspaper. He rubs his eyes and squints at the date.
“It’s September 1st!” Quirrell exclaims! Shaking his head in horror, he seems petrified with this news. That means that you and he have somehow missed the entirety of August!
Quirrell looks around nervously, leans down, and whispers, “Quickly, give me your mother’s journal.”
You look at him and shake your head, “I wasn’t able to take it from the vault.”
You notice Quirrell’s cheeks flush and his fists clinch. He looks as if he might scream. However, through gritted teeth, he does manage to force out, “That’s alright – I’m sure you tried your best.”
After taking a deep breath, he continues, “Regardless, I want to know everything that you discovered in there, but now is not the place nor the t-t-time.”
Glancing again at the newspaper, he continues, “I have to go! I am a month late to a very important meeting.” You see Quirrell force his terrified face into a brave smile. “But, you must get to K-King’s Cross Station if you are to make it to Hogwarts.”
“Take this,” he says, handing you a small, brown sack. “And hold on tight.” Quirrell reaches out and grabs your shoulder. You feel a tug from behind your navel, as your whole world squeezes out of sight. You grab hold of Quirrell and close your eyes tightly.
