You recall a rather in-depth book covering the only bank in the wizarding world, Gringotts. Your near-perfect memory allows you to see in your mind’s eye the following paragraph from the introduction to “Gringotts & Goblins: Strength through Loyalty.”
Introduction
Gringotts Wizarding Bank is the only bank of the wizarding world, and is owned and operated by goblins. It was created by a goblin called Gringott, in 1474. Its main offices are located around the North Side of Diagon Alley in London, England. In addition to storing money and valuables for wizards and witches, one can go there to exchange Muggle money for wizarding money. The currency exchanged by Muggles is later returned to circulation in the Muggle world by goblins.
As far as storing money or valuables, Gringotts is arguably the safest place in the wizarding world. While there have been several attempts, no one has ever been successful at breaking into Gringotts and stealing anything that did not belong to them. There are many magical enchantments, creatures, and traps that prevent would-be thieves. While most of the security is top secret, it is known that some of the lower-level, high security vaults are guarded by a sphinx. Highly intelligent, the sphinx delights in puzzles and riddles. It is usually dangerous only when what it is guarding is threatened.
There are even reports from some, that the lowest-level, highest security vaults are guarded by a dragon! However, we will not speculate as to the veracity of that or…

You know that when Quirrell says “high security vault,” what he means to say is that there is no rational way of retrieving your mom’s journal without proper clearance.
