You get up and quickly get dressed. It’s days like today that make you really miss your mom. She was a fantastic witch. She always knew what to say to make you feel better. But your mom, she would have given you an unwanted hug and told you how it was going to be okay. And, somehow, you would have believed her. She was just magical like that.
You walk downstairs and sit at the table next to your brother for breakfast. Your brother glances over your shoulder with a curious look in his eyes. You turn around, following his gaze out the window at your back. In the distance you see a small shape come into focus. It appears to be a large owl.
